"Come Up Here"

I wrote this poem in June
1998, the day after I received an "impression" (like a vision only less
clear-- like seeing at night rather than the day) of my beloved as an angel.
What the "angel" represented was a new concept for me, for previously I'd
thought I would be the one to help "lift my beloved up, spiritually," but
this impression assured me that my beloved would also help me rise.

"Fate Worse Than Death"

This free-form poem came out
of a rather intense episode which occured after an agnostic online friend
of mine said, "what if there is no God?" I replied that I had much
more proof of God's existence than his-- I only ever saw words on the screen
from him. To which my friend said, "touche."
But then a couple days
later I experienced some kind of spiritual phenomenon so that I could not
just theorize about what it would be like to have no God Almighty
present, but live it for a while. Ack! It was a very dark night,
and I wouldn't wish that utter hopelessness and futility on anyone... |
